photovoltaic solar panels diy?

Looking to build my own solar panels… Any sites anyone know of?Are you a person who is interested in green energy and using Solar Energy Panels or creating your own Home Wind Power, then you are just like myself. I have had a keen interest in green energy every since I studied Architecture many many years ago. At that time I learned that is was possible to build homes that are completely self sufficient which was so compelling to me I had to know more.

for sure, this site is great

DIY copper black panels leaned against window for solar heat: is there a danger of a lightning strike?

(Double – glazed window)

Thanks

You might want to ground it just in case. Connect a copper wire from the panel to a grounding rod stuck in the ground. Are you a person who is interested in green energy and using Solar Energy Panels or creating your own Home Wind Power, then you are just like myself. Atrum Solar gave me an estiamte of approx. $34,000 for a solar panel system before rebate…?

Hi, We have a cabin which is approx. 1,000 sq ft with approx. 500 sq ft of workable roof space (according to astrum) The system we could able to get would produce approx. 5-6 kw of energy for our home. Does this estimate sound accurate? I don’t really have an issue because i realize it is just an estimate – But i can’t afford this amount of money for a solar system. Does anyone have information about companies the will lease solar panel systems in Pennsylvania? Or maybe some information on diy solar panel kits? Actually any information on how a may be able to afford solar power would be very helpful. Thank you in advance!

Cool question!

First, I am assuming you are off the grid, in other words the cabin has no connection to the power grid. A grid connected system is going to require the technical assistance of this company and you will be prey to any costs that they want to charge.

The good news is that you can tell Atrum Solar that you only want 100 watts of solar power on the roof and federal regulations allow you to expand its capacity at your own pace. Make sure you tell them that you want the system to have the ability to handle at least 2000 watts of solar power in the future so you can expand as much as you want without buying more equipment.

Second, I encourage you to build your own solar system in the interim. Total cost will be less than $1,000 and you can power a television along with some lights with no problem at all. The solar panels you buy can be connected to the system that you eventually purchase.

The biggest gain from building your own solar system or DIY is that you will understand the costs of the technology and can fight back against over priced estimates. Here are some of my articles on this subject:

I am not paid by any solar company or electric utility for my advice. I am doing this to advance the knowledge of solar power.

DIY solar ipod charger?

I have 2 small (2"x4") solar panels and I need to find the simplest way to use them to charge an ipod without using any batteries. I thought about just connecting them to a female usb connector but I remembered ipods dont work with generic chargers. any ideas?

You need to find out what is the needed charging voltage for your ipod….
and then you need to find out if you can get the sort of voltage out of the small solar panels that you have. If you can get the voltage from your solar panels, that is good but then another requirement is the current, if the panels will not supply enough current to charge your ipod, that will be a problem.
Do you have any output rating info on those panels?

How To Build A Solar Panel – Part 5

Watch in HD
Watch The First Part of This Project First At:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4BKuH…

Visit Solar Tech Town for the full video:
http://www.solartechtown.com

I, Robert Smith, show you every step I take to building a custom made solar panel from scratch. I explain in detail about each item I use and why to use it, so the video is fairly long.

I will be hosting the majority of the video on my own server so you can view it all in one take. It will take time to edit the video, but the more of you that subscribe to the video, the faster I’ll try to get it out to you guys as it just shows that people are interested and appreciate what I’m doing, as I’m providing this video for free unlike some videos you see on YouTube.

The method I described in this video is just one way to go about it, however, there are many ways you can build a custom solar panel. Some use aluminum or plastic frames, but I found for a beginner, working with wood would probably be easier and cheaper.

Overall, building a solar panel can be fun, but there are many factors that play into building a solar panel, and I as well still have an extreme amount to still learn about it.

So I hope that for those wanting to learn more about solar energy and wanting to take the adventure of building their own solar panel will find this video very useful.

To watch to full video just video, just visit: http://www.solartechtown.com

Again the video is fairly large, so to prevent from having to put 6 or 7 parts on youtube in 10 minute sections, I’m just going to host in on my server.

If you all have ANY questions, feel free to leave a comment under the video.

Thanks guys!

Build DIY Solar Panels = Solar Panel Power = Freedom

http://www.SolarEnergyGuide.net – Build DIY Solar Panels = Solar Panel Power = Freedom
Stop being a slave to your utility company, discover how to build solar panels quickly and easily.

Everyone is a slave to something. Most of us are held captive by huge monopolies like utility companies charging as much as they like, and we get to pay it, if we want to keep our lights on and the heat going.

However, with the proposed Cap and Trade bill now being ramrodded through the American Congress by the renegade Obama, some few Americans may wish they could declare their freedom from the utility company.

The good news is there are still some free things in the world that governments have not been able to tax yet. The sun and wind a two of those things. Science has developed ways of using the sun and wind to create electrical power.

As with nearly all new discoveries, only the wealthy could afford them. Well, not so any longer. With the advent of intolerable energy prices, technologies have been developing ways to build solar panels economically and easily. In fact, so easy even the nerd or geek homeowners can build them.

This is a great blessing to all homeowners. It is now time to stand up and be counted by declaring your independence from your power company. It is now time to set yourself free from the irrational whims of power companies humongous bonus checks and an out of control Congress that thinks they can solve America’s problems by throwing more red ink at it.

I know the thought of building your alternative power system can be scary. It does not have to be that way. Techniques are available for the homeowner to put his own innate talents and thinking to work for himself and do something that will pay him back. We are in the information age and information is available to build your own solar panels right in your own garage or basement.

Parts are easily available in most hardware stores and off of the Internet at very affordable prices. While this looks like a very complicated process it is really very simple. There are no moving parts for you catch your fingers in. If you can chew gum and walk this is a shoo in for any homeowner.

Even if you are on a very tight budget you can still cut back on some non essentials to purchase some or all of the bits and pieces for one solar panel per month.

Then enlist the aid of your family to help in building them during while you are saving for the next one. This is perfect for family bonding, where you can get to know those strangers you live with and teach something worth while as you learn.

As you build them, add them to a system to start weening yourself from the grid and watch as your power bill gradually sinks to zero.

There are an abundance or resource guides on how to build solar panels. They cover everything from A to Z and up to down. Once you have the instructions for building your electrical system, start collecting the parts from the local hardware store or the Internet.

Beware though, your neighbors may want you to build a system for them also.

If you have never build anything in your life, this will give you and your family a feeling pride and accomplishment that cannot be described. It is a great feeling to know you can do something you never dreamed of doing. And the side benefit is the independence you will be gaining your independence from the conglomerates robbing you every month.

And you have not seen anything yet, if Obama’s Cap and Trade bill is pushed into law.

Act now by investing in yourself and discover how to build solar panels to enjoy new found freedom. Save the $3000 Obama wants you to pay for his malfeasance of office and build solar panels now.

Discover how to chop your utility bills down to size now! Go here to get complete DIY Solar Panel Guide for the DIY’er. Now it is possible to build cost efficient alternative power generators in your own basement.
