    it aint future …
    it aint future until they mechanise this production line. 6 panels a day? No they are so expensive!

    This video doesn’t …
    This video doesn’t tell us how a solar panel is made, but rather how it is assembled. I want to see it from its raw materials being turned into those small plates we see at the beginning.

  5. #5 by edwinstar100 at March 29th, 2010

    Why is this not …
    Why is this not automated, I see nothing in this process that a machine could not do as well as handling them gently and keeping them clean? Look at the assembly of other similar components…the soldering of complex circuit boards.

    I want to find a …
    I want to find a billion dollar grant and build solar panels + in Austin Texas..I see wind in Texas got Mega money.. Why not give some to the guys working on solar and more? Not just the college or schools? man we got like a billion installers they can help me build what we install

    Great for a …
    Great for a science fair project…however, an array made by such modules won’t pass inspection by any utility or inspector if used to power a home. PV modules must be UL listed to be approved by the authority having jurisdiction and to receive any state or local rebates.

    @thegurutrader you …
    @thegurutrader you fool, it’s from the middle english “soudur” which doesn’t even have an “l” maybe if you go all the way back to latin you might have a point…

    @azurelikeit1 No, …
    @azurelikeit1 No, it still costs way more to produce solar panels than the value of their electricity during their lifetime. Even with subsidies, the payback is on the order of decades.

    This is a good …
    This is a good video, but this YouTube account “earth4energy”, plagiarized it from Discovery Channel.

    Earth4Energy is an affiliate network of losers who scam people by making them think they can make solar electricity by themselves, easily, to save money. As if we want to build our own dishwashers, washing machines, computers, cars, etc.

    I like this video. …
    I like this video. They have great tools right there. I have made a tutorial to teach peoples how to build their Solar Panels at home. If you want to have a look, here is the url : eco-energy-systems . com . Delete the spaces.. I will try to see if I can reproduce some of this tools to make this process easier for ones that want to produce this panels for selling. Tx uploader!

    “They have to be …
    “They have to be handled with great care”, Yet the guy just dumps them out of the white soldering tray….

    they are supposed …
    they are supposed to give away solar panels for free (well if they knew it wont be wasted) so every 1 can live on sun and our resources wont be wasted

    He’s right, regrettably. Fortunately efficiency is going up.

    30 to 40% efficient …
    30 to 40% efficient measured IN LAB! the average true efficiency varies from 10-20% depended on the type of the panel.

    thanks for the data so if i just want the heat do i get 1400 watts of heat per meter?

  20. #20 by Aslapacrosstheface at March 29th, 2010

    6 per day huh? …
    6 per day huh? that’s not much… they need to automate that process so more can be built. I’d buy a bunch to power our house if the price came down.

  21. #21 by Aslapacrosstheface at March 29th, 2010

    Well, new solar …
    Well, new solar cells are 30-40% efficient, and the sun delivers 1400 watts/ m2 so… 200 watts?
