Solar power panels?

My mom’s house has some solar power panels on the top of her house but they are not connected to anything. They don’t even have wires or anything like that. Does anyone know how to connect and make solar panels work?

Thank You

They may be connected and running, but you just can’t see the cables because they are concealed. Of they may not even be electric. They may be solar water heaters that have water lines running inside a black box.

Did your mom purchase the house with them on there? If so, can she contact the previous owner to learn who installed them and why?

In the absence of any meaningful information, I would suggest that you call a solar company in your area and have them come out to tell you what it is that you have.

    FIrst get an electrician…lol

shouldnt cost too much if all the hardware is there , but depending on how many panels there are and what can… would tell you if the energy output would be worth the effort.

plus one reason they could be unplugged is because they are bad . But you can repanel a new house with moderate power for about 3-5 grand

Call a local solar company (a company that sells and installs solar panels). If you’re having trouble finding one, you can call your local power company and they’ll probably know of some. Have them come to your house and take a look at the panels and figure out what it would take to complete the installation.

If the are electricity generating panels, they much have wires or places where wires would connect. Look for those. These panels often look blue, and they have a definite pattern on them.

If they are are just hot water heating panels, they must have pipe fittings on them. Look for those. These panels will be just flat black color.

It sounds like you nor anyone at your home knows enough about solar to be able to hook them up no matter what type they are.

I have to agree with others that they could be hooked up and you just can’t see the connections. So the best thing for you to do is get a contractor to come out and check them out. It don’t have to be a Solar Dealer because I am a dealer and I use electrical contractors to do the installs.

A solar dealer is not always legal to install and normally do like I do and just design and sell the systems. However most any dealer can easly install a solar power system because they are trained just not legal to do the work.

Having someone other then an electrician work on it could void the warranties.
