How can i connect multiple .5 volt solar panels together to power an LED?

I have created a solar panel made from copper and aluminum that produces .5 volts. I would like to connect multiple panels and power an LED or something similar. Thanks.

connecting them in series should give you the same amps, but boost your voltage. Most LEDs run on 1.5-3volts.

What companies are leading the way in producing affordable solar energy panels for homes and businesses?

Please provide links if possible.

That depends on what type of solar energy you mean… There is Thermal Solar and there is Photovoltaic ( PV ). Thermal solar uses the sun to heat water or some other liquid to transfer that energy to a system that requires heat or simply so you can have hot water. There also thermal solar systems that generate electricity but they again use heat to turn water to steam or another heat usage method to turn a turbine or generator.

The PV panels is what most people think of when they think solar panels. A panel that converts photons into electrical energy. Most of the PV panels (~86%) out there use silicon based systems that are often costly to produce. Some of the new technologies have to the possibility to produce cheaper panels but that technology is more than 10 years out…

Thermal panels are distributed by many many companies. Here is a big one that does pool heating systems… check out their commercial systems.

Here is a smaller company that does mainly residential stuff.

PV panels has a large list…

BP (solar)
Conergy
Evergreen
GE
Kyocera——> probably one of the largest
Mitsubishi
Powerup BSP
Sanyo
Sharp
Shell
SolarWorld
SunTech
SunWize
Unisolar

Would you commit to lowering your energy usage if it could bring the troops home now & save lives?

I love our troops so much that I want them home safe on American soil, back with their families and loved ones. Do you love them enough to carpool a few times a week or turn down your air conditioning or take slightly shorter showers, stuff like that? If every single American minimizes their energy consumption by just a little, we can reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and go back to being a strong and self-reliant country again. For me, these small sacrifices are the most patriotic thing we can do for our brave soldiers overseas and for future generations. I love America! Do you?

Sure, that’s fine.
BUT…. the important thing is to vote Democrats out of office so that we can drill for oil in Anwar, Off Shore, and on Oil Rich Government Land.
Democrats are one of the main reasons why gas prices are so high.
They get millions of dollars from the Environmentalists every election to keep us from drilling Our Own Oil.

Home’s energy usage????

I got this statement from someone who works in an electricity company,"An easy way to reduce your home’s energy usage, and bill, is to raise your thermostat in the summer and lower it in the winter. A summer setting of 78 and a winter setting of 68 can lower your bill, while keeping your home comfortable." I have been asked him back, but i haven’t got another response.

I am confused why is the thermostat set up like that way? Is that not set up in another way,"Lowering your thermostat in the summer and raising it in the winter. A summer setting of 68 and a winter setting of 78 can lower your bill, while keeping your home comfortable."???

No, because if you set the winter setting to 68 the heater will not have to work as hard to keep the temp much over that ….. meanwhile the a/c will not have to work as hard to bring down the temp below 78….. it can save you money depending on where you live

My domain name is not working correctly. why?

I just got web hosting services from hosting24.com, and i registered a domain and all, for my business. Noodletiger.com

Recently I been typing in noodletiger.com in the url area.. and it would not take me to my site.. instead I get a site filled with ads.

example the page would look like this..

noodletiger.com
Below are sponsored listings for goods and services related to: noodletiger.com

even when i try to acces my forums at noodletiger.com/forums
it would not goto my forums, but instead it goes to that ad page..
Just recently I had my web host configure something for me so i can use google Adsense on my website.

something like this..
In order to allow Google to display ads on your domains, you’ll need to modify some settings at your domain registrar. This is necessary to ensure ads show up correctly on your domain.

What is the problem???

I don’t know what is specifically going wrong, but if you type a search for "hosting24.com scam" you’ll see many different complaints. There are unhappy customers at any host, but it looks like hosting24.com has many problems.

You might want to look for another host…

Homemade wind generator questions?

I have questions about making my own windmill I have an alternator our of a Plymouth acclaim, anyway I was thinking about overhauling it to be a more efficient generator. If I do this and it works is it practical to get a simple inverter and pump the AC voltage in my electric meter? It will not produce enough power for my needs but if I do this would it not reduce my electric bill as far as me selling back some power? Also do you need a special electric meter to do something like this?

Your alt. is most likely about 35amps and at 12volts that works out to 420 watts D.C. Then to run that power through an inverter to get A.C. you will have a loss of power which would be about enough to run a couple of 100watt light bulbs, but only as long as the alt. ran continuously and putting out 35amps, which would require a steady wind at least 26mph..

Now I would suggest you check out your local wind velocity for the year to know what the average wind in your area is,I’ll bet you will be very surprised. Most wind generators start to produce power at speeds of 6mph with your alt. that would be about 2 or 3 amps at the most. the power output quadruples when the wind speed doubles till it max.s out around 26mph. All the figures are off the top of my head and not exact.

Sound like a good project that you would enjoy very much, but only for a hobby.

Good Luck with you adventure.
